Debora Monfregola ist in Basel geboren und grossgeworden. Von 2015 bis 2018 studierte sie mit dem Hauptfach Gesang am Jazzcampus Basel bei Ann Malcolm. Für den weiterführenden Master hat es sie nach Zürich an die ZHdK verschlagen wo sie 2020 ihren Abschluss in Pädagogik, Profil Jazzgesang gemacht hat. Sie durfte während ihres Studiums von wunderbaren Dozent*innen profitieren wie Efrat Alony, Dudu Penz, Kaspar Ewald, Jorge Rossy, Guillermo Klein, u.v.m. Momentan lernt sie von der renommierten Sängerin Thana Alexa (New York).
Debora hegt eine grosse Liebe zur brasilianischen Musik, weshalb sie 2016 mit dem Gitarristen Daniel Messina die Band Café da Manhã gründete. Im Oktober 2020 veröffentlichte die Band ihr Debütalbum "Uma Tarde de Nostalgia" bei dem Debora den grössten Teil der Produktion übernommen hat.
Nicht nur die Musik sondern auch das Theater spielt für Debora eine grosse Rolle. Stageproject ist eine Theatergruppe aus Basel bei der Debora von Anfang an (2013) als Schauspielende mitwirkt. Inzwischen übernimmt sie zusätzlich die Musikalische - wie auch die Projektleitung
2020 durfte sie als eine der Gewinnerinnen bei SOFIA (Support of Female Improvising Artists) teilnehmen. Das von Nicole Johänntgen organisierte Programm beinhaltet Business Workshops, Konzerte und Networking bei denen weibliche Musikerinnen im Mittelpunkt stehen.
Momentan unterrichtet Debora an der Musikschule Konservatiorium Zürich Sologesang. In Basel unterrichtet sie privat und leitet ihren selbstgegründeten Erwachsenenchor, Chörli Chor.
Ihr neustes Projekt deb. steht. Debora möchte sich mit ausschliesslich Eigenkomopositonen von einer anderen Seite zeigen. Anfangs Januar 2022 macht sie für drei Monate einen künstlerischen Aufenthalt in London. Neben den Studioaufnahmen mit deb. im Lightship 95 Studio bildet Debora sich noch mit Jazzgesang bei Brigitte Beraha und Songwriting bei Fini Bearman weiter. Das Album "Balancing Act" erschien im Januar 2023. dd

Debora Monfregola was born and raised in Basel. From 2015 to 2018 she majored in singing at the Jazzcampus Basel studying with Ann Malcolm. For her postgraduate master’s degree she moved to the ZHdK in Zurich, where she graduated in pedagogy, specializing in jazz singing in 2020. During her studies, she was able to benefit from wonderful teachers such as Efrat Alony, Dudu Penz, Kaspar Ewald, Jorge Rossy, Guillermo Klein, and many others. She is currently studying with renowned New York based vocalist Thana Alexa.
Debora loves Brazilian music, which is why she co-founded the band Café da Manhã in 2016 with guitarist Daniel Messina. In October 2020, the band released their debut album "Uma Tarde de Nostalgia". Debora has taken over most of the production.
Theatre also plays an important role in Debora's life. Stageproject is a collective theatre group from Basel in which Debora has been an actor from its inception in 2013. She also works as Musical Director and handles most of the management and administrative areas of the project.
In 2020 Debora was chosen to participate as one of the winners at SOFIA (Support of Female Improvising Artists) organised by saxophonist Nicole Johänntgen. Aside from the musical workshops and concerts, the programme also supplied invaluable training in business and networking as female artists in the industry.
Debora currently teaches solo singing at the music school in Mutschellen (CH) and directs two children's choirs. In Basel, she teaches privately and runs her own adult choir.
Currently she's working on a new project, deb. - the material comprises totally original compositions in which Debora explores new directions in her music. At the beginning of January 2022 she had an artistic stay in London for three months. During this time she recorded with deb. an album on the Ligthship 95 Studio and took lessons in vocal Jazz with Brigitte Beraha und in Songwriting with Fini Bearman. The album "Balancing Act" was released in january 2023.
